Aloha and Welcome to the Kauai Republican Party’s web site. It is with great anticipation that we offer you this opportunity to meet your friends and neighbors, who like you, share a deep love of our country, our state and of the island we all call home, Kauai. We look forward to the opportunity to let you know who the Kauai Republican Party is, what we believe, and what our vision is for the future of our great State.
Part of that vision is the creation of a vibrant two party system. In 2002, after nearly fifty years of one party rule, the people of Hawaii—Democrat, Independents and Republicans—voted for and elected a Republican Governor, Linda Lingle. All the people of Hawaii were motivated and excited by the Lingle Administration’s call to action! Her initiatives where embraced, and overwhelmingly supported by the people of Hawaii.
But auwe!—the majority - Democrats, in both the House and Senate, decided that political retribution was the agenda of the day and not the will of the people. As a result, we have a bloated, expensive and inefficient government, that continues to make Hawaii one the highest taxed States in the nation. How do we overcome this? By taking these very important steps:
Hookahi (1)- Join the Kauai Republican Party. Talk to your friends, and get them to join too! There’s a sign up sheet so just click on the Volunteer Tab and fill-out the form.
Elua (2)- We need volunteers too! Let us know what you can do to bring back a two party system to Hawaii! We have a signup sheet for the hana (work) to be done! And there will be a lot of work to be done.
Ekolu (3)- Do you know someone who is willing to run for public office as a Republican? If so, let us know, immediately! The only way we can get Governor Lingle’s initiatives into law, is to elect more Republicans!
Eha (4)- Wish we could do all of this for free; again, auwe “no can!” It takes kala (money), to mount campaigns, to run advertising, to canvass neighborhoods--in short, to build a strong political organization. Please go to our financial donation site; any sum will be greatly appreciated.
In closing, we hope you will join the Kauai Republican Party in bringing back a two party system to the people of Hawaii. With choice, a strong opposition party means checks and balances, and a meaningful debate that can serve to offset the special interests that have controlled this state for far too long.
